Here's what to expect.

WHAT YOU NEED

Ski area learning centers are equipped with everything you need for a first time experience including for skiing - boots, skis with bindings and poles. Snowboarders will be outfitted with the board, binding and boots. Some locationsalso stock rental clothing. For details on how to dress, see our "How to Dress" section.

Learning centers are located in or near the main base lodge. You'll be asked to fill out a form that will provide technicians with the information needed to outfit you with the proper equipment. Be sure to fill out the form truthfully. Remember to bring a driver's license or other government issued ID and a credit card.

The boot fit comes first. Comfortably fitting boots will help ensure an enjoyable experience. Wear a warm pair of dry socks and point out any discomfort while fitting boots. Take your time to ensure a good fit.

DSC015761_-_snowboards-2Technicians will use the information you provide to give you the right skis or snowboard. For skiers, they will help you determine the proper length of poles. Snowboarders don't need poles.

ON-SNOW LESSONS

When you have your equipment you will be ready for your lesson with a professional instructor who will get you going on the snow.

Some learning programs include the use of a beginner lift ticket and equipment that extends beyond a formal lesson. If so, use the time to practice and enjoy. When your experience is over, simply return the equipment to the rental area.
