Catamount Trail Association Offers Free Nordic Lessons for Youths on January 15, 2012
On Sunday, January 15th, 2012, the Catamount Trail Association (CTA) will be joining the Friends of the Rec Path for the 2nd Annual Tour de Snow in Stowe, VT. This event utilizes the 5.3-mile long public recreation path to provide a fun day of fitness and activities for local and visiting kids and families. Last year, over 300 kids and families enjoyed making smores, adventuring through a Nordic terrain park, paintball shooting, yoga sessions, sled pulling, and a host of other activities to benefit the Skiing Kids In School program (SKIS).
This year, the CTA, which is a non-profit organization that protects, maintains, and manages a 300-mile long back-country ski trail the length of Vermont, will be on hand with 30 pairs of junior sized Rossignol skis, boots, and poles. Volunteers from the CTA will be available to issue the free-of-cost demo equipment and provide Nordic ski instruction for beginners. The Stowe Tour de Snow has an additional 30 pairs of Salomon skis and SWIX poles to add to the mix so that 60 newcomers can enjoy an exciting day out on the trails of Stowe.
Whether you are a first time skier or have years of experience, the Stowe Tour de Snow will be a perfect opportunity to celebrate winter and enjoy something fun for everyone. With the CTA’s involvement and commitment to promoting the sport of Nordic skiing, this event will truly be open to anyone who wants to scamper around in the snow!
